What is Mango Lassi Made Of

Mango Lassi is a drink that originated in the Indian subcontinent. Made from mango pulp, fresh fruits, yogurt, and water or milk. There are different variations of Mango Lassie like Strawberry Mango Lassi and Banana Mango Lassi. Mango Lassi is usually made with mango pulp, sometimes it’s served cold (with ice cubes) but normally it’s warm and garnished with chopped almonds.

You can make a Mango Lassie with any kind of frozen fruit you’d like, but I prefer the texture of frozen mango cubes. The mango has such a lovely sweet tropical flavor that’s perfect for this drink. If you don’t have a blender handy, simply thaw the cubes out and use regular fresh mango.
So what is a lassie? It’s an Indian word for “milk,” which is used to add creaminess to smoothies in India, where you’ll find this drink popular. But you don’t need to make it with milk or yogurt – water will give it a nice, light taste.
If you’d like to make your Mango Lassie a little stronger of a cocktail, add in some dark rum or tequila. And if you’re serving the drink for breakfast, just cut out the liquor!

Ingredients For Making Mango Lassie

1. Mango Lassie 1 cup mango cubes (frozen or fresh)
2. Lime juice to taste (about 2 Tablespoons)
3. Water to make the mango cubes drinkable

How to Make Lassie

It is easy to make this drink. Just follow these steps.
1) Take the frozen mango cubes and break them up with a spoon into a tall glass. You can use fresh mango instead if you like, but frozen tastes better and gives the drink a cooler temperature.
2) Add 2 Tablespoons of lime juice to the glass and stir well.
3) Pour half of the ice cubes out of your glass to make room for the water, then add all of the remaining ingredients (mango, lime juice, water).
4) Use a blender or a shaker cup to blend the ingredients until the ice cubes are crushed and the Mango Lassie is smooth.
Use a straw to drink Mango Lassie.
Makes 1 serving
This recipe makes enough Mango Lassie for 1 person. If you’re making more, just double, triple, or quadruple the recipe as needed.

Serving Suggestions
You can serve the Mango Lassie in other glasses, but I like to use glass mason jars. Use a straw to drink Mango Lassi. Drink right away, or refrigerate to serve cold.

Storage

I recommend storing Mango Lassie in the refrigerator. It will keep in this way for about 2 days.

If you’re not eating right away, you can store Mango Lassie in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3-4 days.

I found the best way to make this recipe is to squeeze the fruit and put it through a strainer, for puree it makes for a lighter drink. I love this drink! I love this drink! I’ve made this countless times and it’s very easy to make at home. If you have a Vitamix or Blendtec blender, you’re set to go. If not, you can still make this drink by using a blender or Ninja. However, I feel that a Vitamix or Blendtec blender is the best way to make Mango Lassi.
